After graduation

After graduating in Illustration Design from ArtEZ in Zwolle, you can start work as an independent illustrator or work at an agency.

Title and diploma

After successfully completing the Illustration Design course in Zwolle, you may use the title Bachelor of Arts (BA).

This course may be found in the Dutch Central Register of Courses in Higher Education (CROHO) under code 39111. The formal name of the course, by which it is known in the CROHO, is Bachelor of Design. This CROHO name will appear on your diploma.

Illustrator: independent or in employment

Former Illustration Design students produce hugely diverse work, in terms of style and media. It is visible in a range of forms, including:

  • critical political drawings in (inter)national newspapers and magazines;
  • own comic strips in graphic novels, for example;
  • creative illustrations on products in their own pop-up stores;
  • apps;
  • animations for theatre or music productions;
  • personal and poetic publications published by small publishing companies;
  • informative illustrations for educational programmes, for example;
  • fun illustrations in children's books;
  • interactively designed illustrations for websites;
  • autonomous work at exhibitions;
  • experimental images in personally initiated magazines;
  • combination of illustration and design for festivals and theatre.
