Tuition fees
You pay tuition every year. You will either pay the statutory or institutional tuition fee depending on your nationality and previously earned degrees in the Netherlands, among other factors, you will pay either the statutory or institutional tuition fee.

Statutory tuition fee
Most students pay the statutory tuition fee, which is € 2,314 for the 2023-2024 academic year.
To be eligible for the statutory tuition fee, you must meet the following conditions:
1. Nationality
You meet one of the following conditions:
- You have the Dutch nationality.
- You have the nationality of a EU/EEA country, Suriname or Switzerland.
- You are the partner or child of a non-Dutch EU/EEA citizen who lives or works in the Netherlands.
- You have a residence permit type II, III, IV, V or ‘Article 50 TEU’.
- You have a type I residence permit with the appropriate condition. Please refer to the terms and conditions help.
- You are a national of the United Kingdom (UK) and have a right of residence 28, 29, 40 or 30.
2. No previous degree
This means that you have not earned a degree in government-funded Dutch Higher Education after 31 July 1991: an Associate degree, a Bachelor's degree or a Master's degree if you are going to do an Associate degree, a Bachelor’s degree if you are going to do a Bachelor’s programme or a Master’s degree if you are going to do a Master’s degree. If you already have a degree and are planning to pursue a programme in the field of either education or healthcare, you will pay the statutory tuition fee (provided that your first degree is not in education or healthcare).
ArtEZ can charge the institutional tuition fee if, in the course of the year, a student no longer meets these conditions.
Institutional tuition fee
For new students in the 2023-2024 academic year, the institutional tuition fee for all Bachelor programmes and Associate Degree programmes is € 10,200. For all Master programmes the institutional fee is € 11,200.
The amount of the institutional tuition fee is set by the Board of Governors and can vary by programme or group of students. It cannot be lower than the statutory tuition fee. Government funding for initial studies differentiates between various programmes: art programmes receive more government funding than many other programmes. ArtEZ has chosen an institutional tuition fee that is equal to the government funding for a financed student plus the statutory tuition fee. This is lower than the actual amount spent per student.
If in the course of the year you no longer meet the conditions for the statutory tuition fee, ArtEZ can proceed to charge the institutional tuition fee.
Two study programmes simultaneously
Students who are following more than one programme at a time, only pay the statutory tuition fee for their second study programme if they have obtained their first degree and have yet to complete their second.
