Paying tuition fees

Via a digital authorisation in Studielink you can pay your tuition fee in one go or in instalments. If you are unable or unwilling to pay by means of a digital authorisation, you can also transfer the tuition fee to ArtEZ yourself. If you would like more information about the amount of the tuition fee you are required to pay, go to Tuition fees | Study at ArtEZ.

If you are doing a second study programme at another institution alongside your ArtEZ course, you may be entitled to a tuition fee exemption at the other institution. Check the information below about how to apply and hand in a Proof of Tuition Fee Payment (BBC). The tuition fee exemption only applies for the statutory tuition fee.

Read more about the different ways of paying and changing your payment details below. For more information, you can also refer to the Studielink step-by-step-plans.

  • By means of a digital authorisation, you give ArtEZ permission to collect the tuition fee from your bank account in one go or in ten instalments. You can do so from mid-June, the moment ArtEZ opens the payment module in Studielink.

Dates on which the tuition fee will be debited from your account

If you want to pay your tuition fee in one go via the digital authorisation, the date on which ArtEZ will debit the tuition fee from your account is around 24 September.

The dates on which the tuition fee will be debited from your account in instalments are around 24 September, 24 October, 24 November, 24 December, 24 January, 24 February, 24 March, 24 April, 24 May and 24 June.

    Please note

    • Digital authorisation is only possible if your bank is based in the Netherlands or another SEPA area.
    • If your payment comes from a Dutch bank account, someone else can also use the digital authorisation to pay for you. Please note: for this purpose, that person must have their own DigiD login details!
    • You will be charged a € 24 administration fee to pay in ten instalments. Make sure the authorisation is confirmed digitally well before the start of your course!

    More information

Go for more information to the Studielink step-by-step-plans and chose the step-by-step plan ‘Digital (direct debit) authorisation’.

  • If you are unable or unwilling to pay by means of digital authorisation in Studielink, you can also transfer the tuition to ArtEZ's bank account yourself. In that case, you are required to pay the entire amount in one go. The tuition fee must be in ArtEZ's bank account by 31 August at the latest. In order to work out the amount of the tuition fee you are required to pay, you can use the tuition fee calculator.

To transfer the tuition fee, use the following ArtEZ bank details:

    • IBAN: NL57 ABNA 0884 4133 30, in the name of ArtEZ University of the Arts
    • BIC: ABNANL2A

Please state your surname, initials and student number!

Non-EU students who need a resident permit

Non-EU students who need a resident permit pay a financial guarantee. The tuition fee is already included in this amount. Go to Financial guarantee non-EU for more information.

  • Under the law, you are only obliged to pay the statutory tuition fee at one educational institution. If you are planning to take a second course at a different educational institution, ask for a Proof of Tuition Fee Payment (BBC) from the institution where you paid the statutory tuition fee. The BBC may exempt you from having to pay the tuition fee at the other institution. The exemption only applies to the statutory tuition fee.

    How it works

In Studielink, you can specify that you want to pay with a BBC. If the educational institution supports it, the BBC can be digitally requested and forwarded via Studielink. For more information, go to the Studielink - step-by-step plans and choose the step-by-step plan 'Paying with a Proof of Tuition Fee Payment’. If it is not possible to request and forward the BBC digitally, you can request a BBC from or submit it to the Student Affairs Department. Please note: you need to request a new BBC every year.

  • As a payer of the tuition fee at ArtEZ, you only need to enter the payment details in Studielink once. These details will be used as long as you are enrolled at the same educational institution, i.e. also for future academic years. As soon as the amount of the tuition fee for the new academic year is known, you will be informed by e-mail. You will also be asked to check or edit the existing details at the same time.

    Changing your payment details mid-term

You can change the payment details you have submitted at any point during the year. Go for more information to the Studielink step-by-step-plans and chose the step-by-step plan ‘Changing payment details’. The change will take effect from the next payment date, which may not be until the next academic year. ArtEZ decides when the change will be implemented.

How does ArtEZ deal with payment arrears?

For the rules relating to payment arrears, we refer you to the accounts receivable protocol in the student charter. You can find the rules around paying the tuition fee in article 10 of Appendix I, Regulation Specifications.
