After graduation

After graduation

As a recently graduated graphic designer, you will be able to do all kinds of work. You can work for a design agency, start your own design studio or continue studying. You can also work as a designer in a very different sector; there are many organisations within which you can make a difference with graphic design.

This course has not only enabled me to develop my own signature, it has also showed me the power of design and that you can really bring about change as a designer.
SOPHIE CEELEN, alumna (2020 graduate)

Graphic designer at an agency or organisation

After your studies you can start working as an independent graphic designer or collaborate within an agency or in the creative industry. We see our students take up employment at design agencies at home and abroad.

After graduation, you can start work as freelance graphic designer or work with others at an agency or in the creative industries. But as a graphic designer you can also add a lot of value to an organisation outside the creative industries. For example, by employing graphic design as a means of communication, to promote change or innovation initiatives or in research. The career prospects are excellent. Most students find a job in the graphical field within one to two years. We have former students working at design agencies and organisations in the Netherlands and abroad. For example, there are alumni of the course working at Silo in Den Haag, Today in Utrecht, Studio Another Day (Nijmegen) and Studio Room in Naarden.

Freelance graphic designer

Want to go into business for yourself? For up to three years after graduating, we offer support including start-up assistance in setting up your own business.

In my work, I make a lot of use of illustrations, motion graphics, photography and especially topography. I don't see letters merely as text, but also as shapes that can tell their own story.
JULIAN BAAN, alumnus, working at Silo (following on from an internship placement)
