Admission requirements

Do you want to apply for the Bachelor in Fashion Design? If so, you must meet the following conditions:

• You can be submitted with an international diploma, provided that the diploma is equivalent to a Dutch diploma. The Student Administration evaluates this before you are admissible
• This course is in English and is subject to language requirements
• You must successfully complete an admission procedure

Are you in any doubt as to whether you will be able to meet the diploma requirements at the start of the course? If so, please get in touch before you apply.

Entrance examination (online only!)

After applying for the admission procedure, you will take the entrance examination by sending your digital portfolio and home assignment. Your digital work (PDF) as well as the filled in questionnaire will be assessed by a team of teachers on whether Fashion is the right course for you and whether you have sufficient talent and motivation to succeed in the course.

After your registration in Studielink you will receive an e-mail with your student number and the link to our admission page. With your student number and date of birth you can login and fill out the questionnaire. Please make sure to fill out and submit this questionnaire because this is the last step to finalize your application, without it you cannot take part in the entrance exam. Upon receipt of your filled out questionnaire you will be informed by e-mail about the admission procedure and the home assignment that you are requested to make and bring with you to the admission interview. 

Upon receiving your documents, the teaching team of the Fashion Design BA program will first assess the quality of your work in conjunction with your motivation. If your work meets all the requirements, you will be invited to an online meeting with two teachers via ZOOM.

If the assessment has a negative outcome, you will be notified by email as soon as possible. We aim to communicate the results to all candidates within two to three weeks after the deadline.

We assess on:

• Your creative ability to express yourself visually, drawing skills, understanding of and feel for colour, form and material, and the authenticity expressed by your work.
• Your motivation and ability to communicate. To what extent are you able to share your fascination and inspiration through image and motivation in the questionnaire.
• Your ability to reflect critically on images. Here we will be looking for an inquiring and experimental attitude, curiosity and a genuine interest in contemporary art and design practice.

The deadlines for submitting your digital portfolio and home assignment:

• March 14. 2024 for the first admission round
• April 18. 2024 for the second admission round

After these deadlines your admission will not be processed. Tip regarding the dates: best to take advantage of the earliest date for your admission.

Result and validity

The admissions committee will advise the Board of Examiners whether or not to admit you. You will be notified of the result within three working weeks of the entrance examination. An admission is only valid for the course for which you have applied. The admission is only valid for the academic year immediately following the interview.
