I am Silke Vermeulen (20), born in Meppel and living in picturesque Uffelte. This year I will graduate from the Music in Education program at ArtEZ Academy of Music in Zwolle. Music has always been a thread in my life, and this is perhaps the most personal project so far! A performance in which my love for music, my surroundings and the power of connection come together - “In the Light of Later”.
On June 12, I will close my study chapter with a concert collaborating with people who have inspired me. I am doing this with New Voices, Singkids & Swingband, six young songwriters (ages 9-20) from the region, and some of my own vocal and piano students, among others.
This performance is an ode to the future of music and the power of doing that together. Music connects and is there for everyone - young, old, experienced or novice, rich or poor. My dream is to continue to connect people through music, now and in the future. The people with whom I have had the privilege of working deserve to be in the light. Together we will make a wonderful evening!
“The Light of Later” shows how many wonderful connections have been made in recent years and hopefully heralds a new era full of musical encounters.
