Enrolment conditions

Congratulations on your admission! You can now proceed to enrol. Below you will find the checklist with the enrolment conditions.

Your enrolment is complete once you have met all the conditions by 31 August 2025 at the latest. Do you need a residence permit to study in the Netherlands? Then the deadline is 31 May 2025.

Tip! Arrange everything as soon as possible to ensure your start at ArtEZ. If you are not enrolled on time, you cannot start your course.

Enrolment conditions checklist

  • You meet the previous education requirements

    To start a bachelor’s course or associate degree, you need a Senior General Secondary Education (havo), pre-university (vwo) or intermediate vocational (mbo-4) diploma or a foreign equivalent level of education. For a master’s course, a bachelor's degree or a foreign equivalent level of education is required.

    • Did you obtain your diploma in the Netherlands after 1991? If you obtained your diploma in the Netherlands after 1991, the Education Executive Agency (DUO) will provide us with your diploma details. 
    • Have you followed your previous education outside of the Netherlands or before 1991 in the Netherlands? In that case, we do not receive data from DUO and we will ask you to send us or to upload a copy of your original diploma and grades summary. If your diploma is not in the Dutch, English or German language, then you must supply us in addition to your original diploma a certified translation in Dutch or English. 
    • Are you currently following your previous education in the Netherlands and are you taking your final exams this year? Then you don't have to do anything now. DUO informs us as soon as they know that you have obtained your diploma. If you have not obtained your diploma and you therefore cannot start, please cancel your enrolment request in Studielink. 
    • Do you not meet the previous education requirements for a bachelor’s or associate degree course? If you don't meet the previous education requirements for a bachelor’s course or associate degree, you may qualify for the so-called colloquium doctum. More information about this can be found under the heading 'colloquium doctum'. Please note: this option is not available for admission to a master’s course. 
    • Do you have a refugee status and isn't it possible to prove that you meet the previous education requirements? Please contact the Student Affairs Department via studentaffairs@artez.nl or 026-3535650.

  • Colloquium doctum

    If you do not meet the previous education requirement for a bachelor's course or an associate degree, you may be eligible for the so-called colloquium doctum. A colloquium doctum is an entrance examination to determine whether you have the required working, thinking and language level for the desired course. This examination takes place at the external organization with which ArtEZ has agreements. You will take a colloquium doctum at your own expense. 

    • Are you 21 or older on 1 September of the following academic year? Then you may be eligible for a colloquium doctum. Send an e-mail to the Student Affairs Department (studentaffairs@artez.nl) if you have been artistically admitted to a course at ArtEZ and you want to make use of this possibility. The Student Affairs Department will then inform you about the procedure and the steps you need to take.
    • Are you 18, 19 or 20 years old on 1 September of the following academic year? Then you may, after permission from the Central Examination Board of ArtEZ, be eligible for a colloquium doctum. Send an e-mail to the Student Affairs Department (studentaffairs@artez.nl) if you have been artistically admitted to a course at ArtEZ and you want to make use of this possibility. The Student Affairs Department will inform you about the procedure and the steps you need to take. This option does not apply if you recently failed your high school final exams.

    Please note: the possibility of taking a colloquium doctum does not apply to admission to a master's course.

  • Your personal details have been verified

    ArtEZ is obliged to check your personal data. In most cases, Studielink will verify your personal details in the Dutch Municipal Personal Records Database (BRP). If you are not registered in the database, verification will be based on your proof of identity. This can be done centrally via Studielink. In some cases you will receive an e-mail asking you to upload a copy of your ID document.

  • You meet the language requirements

    Language requirements apply for all our courses. Check out which language requirements apply to your course and how you can demonstrate that you meet them on the Language requirements page. If this applies to you, please upload a copy of your language certificate via the ArtEZ application website.

  • You have arranged a residence permit

    If you have a nationality from outside the EU, you must have a residence permit to study at ArtEZ in the Netherlands.

    • Do you not yet have a valid residence permit? If you do not yet have a valid residence permit, ArtEZ can apply for one on your behalf. In that case, it is important that you upload all the documents for your residence permit application, a copy of your previous education, and a copy of your language certificate via the ArtEZ application website by 31 May 2025 at the latest. Additionally, we must receive the financial guarantee by 31 May 2025 at the latest. By transferring the financial guarantee, you will also have paid your tuition fee for the first academic year. If you meet these requirements and your residence permit is granted, you will be enrolled for the 2025-2026 academic year.
    • Do you already have a valid residence permit? If you already have a valid residence permit, please upload a copy of the front and back of your residence permit via the ArtEZ application website by 31 August 2025.

  • You have paid the tuition fees

    To complete your enrolment, it is important to arrange the payment of your tuition fees on time. In Studielink, you indicate how you want to pay your tuition fees. On the page Paying tuition fees you can read more about the different payment methods. From mid-June, you can arrange your payment in Studielink. You will receive a notification from us if it is possible.
