A fine art and design teaching qualification in two years
Would you like to complement your practice as an artist or designer with a teaching practice in mainstream education or art education? Or do you have the ambition to go all the way for teaching art? The BA Fine Art and Design in Education (part-time accelerated) in Arnhem trains you as an artist educator with your own vision on art, teaching and education and the skills to put it into practice.
The study is an abridged part-time accelerated version of the four-year Bachelor of Fine Art and Design in Education course. Thanks to a programme with exemptions, you can achieve a broad qualification in two years with two class days a week. The BA Fine Art and Design in Education (part-time accelerated) is especially intended for visual artists and designers with a completed higher professional education (hbo) art course such as Fine Art, Graphic Design or Fashion Design. For teachers with a second-level qualification in drawing, handicrafts or textile design, there is a similar part-time accelerated programme.
After the course, you are entitled to use the title of Bachelor of Education (BEd) and have a broad teaching qualification. This allows you to work at all levels of education, but also outside education (e.g. for museums, cultural institutions, artists’ initiatives, festivals and online platforms). The professional practice is very diverse; many of our alumni work not only as teachers but also as makers, educators or curators.
The Fine Art and Design in Education course in Arnhem is available as a full-time and as a regular part-time course (duration: four years).
You can also take the Fine Art and Design in Education course in Zwolle (full-time, part-time or part-time accelerated).
