Working in education
Within mainstream education, you can work in primary education, special needs education, the first phase of secondary education, the senior years of preparatory middle-level vocational education (VMBO) and the second phase of secondary education/preparatory higher education (VHO). You can work as a teacher of visual arts, but also, for example, as a teacher of cultural and artistic studies, general art, art history, media design or drawing. In addition, as a qualified teacher of visual arts and design, you will be entitled to teach at secondary and higher vocational (MBO and HBO) level. Your diploma is a broad teaching qualification.
Art education outside mainstream education
With your diploma, you can also work in the field of art education. Within the institutions in this field, you can perform policy-making, coordinating or more executive roles. These could include: museums, cultural institutions, artists' initiatives, festivals and online platforms.
