Good news for students who, as well as gaining a full teaching qualification, also want to be trained to master's level: ArtEZ is launching the Fast track double degree programme bachelor’s/master’s Education in Arts. This abridged route is specifically aimed at students who already have a bachelor's degree in Fine Art or Design but also want to gain their teaching qualification and improve their research skills. “This is about being in synch with our students’ backgrounds and ambitions.”

A bachelor's and master's degree in Education in Arts in just 3 years: it's now possible with this new abridged double degree programme

If you want to gain your full teaching qualification at ArtEZ, the two-year Fine Art and Design in Education tailor-made course is the most popular route to take. If you also want to add more depth to your professional position as an artisteducator, you could follow that up with the two-year part-time master’s course Education in Arts. But what if you want both, i.e. a teaching qualification and more in-depth artisteducatorship, but you don’t want to spend four years doing it?

The Bachelor’s/Master’s Education in Arts fast track double degree programme has been created precisely for such people. “With this combined route, you can gain both your bachelor's and your master's degree within three years”, explains Elsbeth Veldpape, acting head of course for the Education in Arts master's. “Instead of following two part-time courses that would take you a total of four years, this way you’ll be done in three.”

These people are going to make a difference.”

“A really solid start”

For the first year and a half, students follow the Fine Art and Design in Education tailor-made curriculum, then for the final year and a half they follow the master's in Education in Arts”, adds Joske van Zomeren, head of course at Fine Art and Design. “We are both very pleased and proud that this route now exists, because it meets a specific need from the professional field. Students who successfully complete the abridged route will be making a really solid start to their working lives.”

Ambitious, open and inquiring

Veldpape agrees. “These people are going to make a difference. This is aimed at a small, specific target group who, having completed this route, are really going to bring about significant change in the field of education. We are looking for ambitious students with an open and inquiring attitude and an innovative mindset. A condition is that they have already completed a higher professional art course in Fine Art or Design.”
