Application and admission

Are you an art teacher or an art education professional and do you want to deepen your position as an artisteducator? If so, the master’s course Education in Arts is for you. If you want to follow in this master's course, the first step is to apply for admission/auditions. Learn about the process step by step and what to expect. You'll also find important dates, deadlines, and useful tips to prepare yourself.

You can apply for this course through Studielink. First, read the admission process for the master's course Education in Arts below. You can find general admission information for ArtEZ here. Once you've applied, you'll receive a confirmation email from ArtEZ Student Affairs. After that, the course will provide you with further details regarding the admission process.

Important dates and deadlines

The admission interviews for this program are by appointment, so there are no fixed dates for the interviews. The sooner you apply, the sooner you can schedule your interview. If you have any questions, please get in touch with the course.

Admission requirements

If you want to follow the master's course Education in Arts, you must at least fulfil these requirements to be eligible to apply: 

  • You either have a higher vocational bachelor's degree in the field of art education (fine art and design, theatre, dance or music in education, or a similar course), or a university or higher vocational diploma in art, social work, primary education or media with relevant work experience in the field of art education. 
  • A positive outcome of the admission interview. 
  • A proof of your Dutch language proficiency. For more information, please check the general language requirements for ArtEZ master's courses. 

Admission procedure: here’s what to expect

Step 1: Apply with Studylink 

You first apply via  Studielink. Depending on where you live and what stage of your studies you are at, you need to submit some important documents, such as a copy of your passport and your bachelor degree. Studielink will help you through this step by step.   

Step 2: Handing in your motivation and cv 

After applying with Studielink, you will receive a link to upload your CV, motivation letter and portfolio. In your motivation letter, please answer at least the following questions. Based on your motivation and CV, you be invited for an admission interview. 

  • Need some tips for writing a motivational letter? You can at least answer the following questions: 

    • What is your motivation for this master course on a personal, professional and social level? 
    • Which themes would you like to explore during this master course? 
    • Who or what inspires you?  
    • What expertise can you offer the learning community of this master’s course? 

Step 3: The admission interview 

The admission interview will take place online and takes about 30 minutes. Your motivation letter, CV and portfolio will be the basis of the interview. We will schedule the admission interview with you, so there are no specific set dates for admission interviews.

Step 4: Result of admission 

You will be notified whether you have been admitted within 10 days. If you are admitted, you will receive further instructions via email on how to enrol in the master's course.

Scholarships

If you are a non-EU/EEA resident, there are two scholarships you can apply for: the ArtEZ Scholarship or the NL scholarship. Deadline for both scholarships is May 1st, so you need to be admitted before this deadline. Please contact the Student Affairs department for information about scholarships, residence permits, accommodation and any other related questions.
