Corpo-real Discourse: UNStudio

Melinda Matuz is an architect, interior designer and designer with never ending enthusiasm and curiosity about the built environment and its impacts on human behavior. She is an Associate Director at UNS specialised in narrative design and storytelling, with a particular focus on how design influences people’s behavior, emotional engagement with interior, architecture, and the perception of space.

Her multidisciplinary experience, spanning projects from product design to urban scale, informs an approach to interior design that integrates identity, experience, and strategy. UNS approaches design as an interdisciplinary practice driven by innovation, sustainability, and human-centered thinking, with a strong belief in collaboration, curiosity, and the long-term social and environmental value of the built environment. Through her work at UNS, Melinda explores how new design practices can contribute to an era in which design achieves high impact on people’s life through minimal intervention and environmental footprint.

She has explored the consequences of urban growth and digital development through the Reorient – Migrating Architectures exhibition for the Venice Architectural Biennale and a series of kinetic sound installations connecting low tech and digital culture. More recently, after completing her Executive MBA at the University of Amsterdam, her focus turned towards the impact of AI adoption in architecture and design, particularly its influence on people, processes, and future strategies. Her teaching experience includes leading design studios with the University of Melbourne, teaching design entrepreneurship at IE in Spain, conceptual and digital design at the Fontys Academy of the Arts in Tilburg.
