Dutch Design Week: Care & Repair

On Tuesday 20 October, Care & Repair will take part in the first public event of Ontwerpkracht & Transities, a CLICKNL programme, during Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven.

Workshop: Orchestrating Transitions as a Designer

The workshop Orchestrating Transitions as a Designer explores the changing role of the designer. Different transition orchestrators will share their perspectives in a moderated panel discussion. Participants will be invited to reflect on the role, tensions and value of orchestration as a design competence.

This theme connects closely with the approach of Care & Repair, a research project within NewTexEco, the Research Community of ArtEZ and its partners. In Care & Repair, designers, researchers and stakeholders from the textile sector explore how design can contribute to keeping clothing in use for longer. The project looks at care, repair, reuse and redesign, as well as the collaboration needed to make these practices part of the clothing system.

Care & Repair shows that working towards a circular textile sector requires not only new products and solutions, but also collaboration between different stakeholders and new ways of designing and organising. This connects with the broader research agenda of NewTexEco, where design is used to contribute to the transition towards a circular and regenerative textile sector.
