On 26 November, the Arnhemse Nieuwe 2025 were presented at Focus Filmtheater. Arnhemse Nieuwe is the annual talent programme of Stichting OPA. The platform offers emerging designers from Arnhem a stage, a network and visibility at the start of their careers. Makers present their newest work - the city discovers new talent.

This year, several alumni from the ArtEZ Academy of Art & Design Arnhem have once again been selected. Their projects raise new questions, probe systems and play with perspective, interaction and technology.
Lotte Bruinink, Product Design
Lotte graduated from ArtEZ in 2025 and specialises in design research. Her project Heet Onder je Voeten (Feeling the Heat) explores how visualisation and interface design can deepen our everyday understanding of climate change.
Tabitha Skye Anderton, Graphic Design
Tabitha completed her bachelor’s programme at ArtEZ in 2025. Her interactive installation Towards The Conscious Contact: Past Folds and Motion investigates our behaviour towards digital devices. By introducing friction, it interrupts the addictive smoothness of contemporary interfaces and shows how resistance can foster more meaningful engagement.
Lucas works as a graphic designer, creative coder and podcast maker at the intersection of design and technology. He graduated in July 2025. His project In the Empty Space Between Your Files examines alternative ways of organising images.
Anne-Mirthe Huijser, Fine Art and Design in Education
Anne-Mirthe works as an artist educator. She builds bridges between art and everyday life, giving the ordinary an unexpected twist. In her project Polarisatie Poëzie she investigates how sharp, unfiltered online comments change when lifted from their digital context and placed in physical space.
Anna graduated in 2025. In her project On Eyelevel she challenges the assumptions behind standardised design through interactive and playful objects. Inspired by her own experience of being small, she explores height differences through optical illusions and forced perspective.
Wout van Slagmaat, Product Design
Wout is a designer and maker with his own practice. He graduated in the summer of 2025. His work examines the blurring boundaries between work and private life, revealing both the positive and negative consequences - for example those created by flexible working.

Lucas Zuidema, 2025, Graphic Design
The jury consisted of professionals from across the design field:
Thijs van Exel (designer, working on complex societal issues through design and action research)
Roos Meerman (designer, Creative Director at Filip Studios and board member of OPA)
Simone van Bennekom (Director of Stichting Creatief Arnhem and active in the Dutch Top Sector Creative Industry)
Dewi van de Klomp (project manager and programme maker at BNO, with a focus on emerging design talent)
Arnhemse Nieuwe 2025 demonstrates the richness, diversity and experimental spirit of Arnhem’s design landscape - and how strongly ArtEZ alumni are represented within it.
