Creative Writing alumnus Naomi in Trouw: on faith, sexuality and the womb

Naomi Ramaker recently graduated from the bachelor’s programme Creative Writing at ArtEZ Academy of Art & Design Arnhem. Trouw interviewed her about her graduation collection. In De Moeder, de Dochter en de Heilige Geest (The Mother, the Daughter and the Holy Spirit) she explores the connections between the womb, sexuality and faith.

Naomi grew up in a traditional Christian environment. At the age of seventeen, she moved onto a houseboat in Arnhem and started studying at ArtEZ. She found herself in a completely different world, filled with new perspectives.

'When I started the programme, I suddenly found myself in a bubble of creative writers where people spoke very openly about sexuality and different forms of love. It was a real revelation.'
