During the four-year MediaMusic course in Enschede, you will build up an extensive portfolio of your own productions. Attention is paid to craft, theory and, of course, the professional practice.
The starting point is the development of your own music, personal style and creativity. Working on external assignments is also an important component of the course. During interdisciplinary studio projects, project weeks and internships, you will become well acquainted with the practical aspects of your future profession.
The ArtEZ Academy of Music pays a great deal of attention to health as part of its music programmes.
In addition to specific major productions, in the first year you will complete knowledge-broadening assignments to aid your orientation. For example, a student who has chosen the major 'Composer for Film & Games,' also writes a song in addition to orchestral compositions.
From the first year, students have the opportunity to apply for admission to the Honours Programme, which is supplementary to the regular courses of their own Bachelor’s course.
You will also see students from other art disciplines at the ArtEZ studium generale. During this day programme full of debate, workshops, performances and lectures you will meet relevant speakers from the art, science and society. You are going with them in discussion and sharpens that way your opinion and thoughts.
At the start of the second year, you still have the possibility to choose a different major, if you feel that that would be a better fit for your ambitions and talents. Starting this year, you will focus on deepening your skills and knowledge and building a specialist portfolio with various productions, among other things. We encourage you to expand your portfolio as much as possible and to experience and mingle with other styles and disciplines within and outside ArtEZ. You can also explore portions of other majors.
In the third year you already begin work on the graduation components, such as taking two minors and completing a research project.
In your third or fourth year, you can also study abroad for several months. This is particularly valued by many students.
In the graduation year, you will complete an internship and put together your graduation project. The aim of this project is to present yourself as best as possible.
All graduation students of the MediaMusic course will present their graduation work during the ArtEZ finals. A visit to this graduation exhibition is a must if you are thinking about taking the MediaMusic course.
