ArtEZ Academy of Music students win awards at Booster Festival
On Saturday, April 6, fans of Dutch pop culture were in for a treat in Enschede. ArtEZ Conservatory, in collaboration with Metropool Enschede and others, organized the Booster Festival. During this day, up-and-coming talented musicians were given plenty of networking opportunities and lots of inspiration to take new steps in the music industry. As is tradition, the Overijssel Pop Prize was also awarded, which went to the band Droom Dit.
Overijssel Pop Prize
Network organization and Booster partner Poppunt Overijssel presented the Overijssel Pop Awards on Saturday evening. The Academy of Pop Music students from Droom Dit won the Overijssel Pop Award, while Zwolle-based Hiigo (students from the Music Teacher training program) won Best Track 2023 with their song “Tankstation.” With these awards, Poppunt Overijssel puts artists, organizations, and individuals who have made a special contribution to Overijssel pop culture over the past year in the spotlight. I am extremely proud of our bands Droom Dit and Hiigo for winning the Overijssel Pop Awards. With Droom Dit winning the Overijssel Pop Award and Zwolle-based Hiigo winning the award for best track, this also confirms to me that ArtEZ Academy of Music is a fertile breeding ground
Curious about Booster Festival?
In the run-up to Saturday, April 6, Booster Live Sessions were recorded at Metropool Enschede. Three days of intensive filming by the Tornado Filmcrew resulted in 12 beautiful live recordings of talent from Overijssel and Gelderland. Almost every genre is represented in the live sessions. Most of these artists also performed during the showcase festival. All live sessions can be viewed at boosterfestival.nl.
We look back on a successful Booster edition and are delighted that so many talented artists, music industry professionals, and audience members were able to attend our festival. We are also proud that so many artists have taken their first steps at Booster over the past 10 years and are now an integral part of the music scene.
