Study

A personal research project forms the heart of the program. Each student selects a question or theme that matters to them and develops it both visually and conceptually. Alongside this, students take modules that strengthen their narrative skills, technical abilities and research-oriented mindset.

Through this combination, students build a strong and autonomous practice, rooted in contemporary issues and nourished by artistic and critical thinking.

The Master Illustration Based Narrative is a two-year program that combines image and story to create powerful narratives. The curriculum is multidisciplinary, integrating research, storytelling, and image-making. It is designed to help students develop their own voice and vision as creative professionals. Graduates are prepared for careers in the international creative industries as storytellers, illustrators, animators, or concept developers – roles that take place in the global field of illustration.

Year 1

The first year offers a mix of core modules and elective modules across different themes within Illustration Based Narrative.

  • Core modules (30 ECTS)
These compulsory modules provide a solid theoretical, ethical, and practical foundation.

  • Elective modules (30 ECTS)
Students select two modules that directly connect to their research project and chosen methodology. These modules provide a deeper focus on visual storytelling and the narrative use of image.

Year 2

The second year centers on advanced research and specialization within the Graduation Project, culminating in a public exhibition.

  • Specialization route
Students choose a focus area within Illustration Based Narrative that aligns with their interests:

    • Image – Emphasis on visual creation and communication, exploring techniques such as illustration, animation, and graphic design.

    • Narrative – Focus on telling complex stories through image, with attention to narrative strategies and storytelling techniques.

    • Research – Investigation into illustration and narrative in theoretical and applied contexts.

  • Graduation Project & Expo
The core of the second year is the independent graduation project, combining visual and written research. This project synthesizes the student’s knowledge, vision, and skills, and is presented at a public exhibition.
