After graduation

Once you graduate, you will be a professional who has their own artistic skills but who is also able to make the world of art and culture accessible to all kinds of different people in different places. In addition, you will have the knowledge, experience and (research) skills to enable you to take your professional, art educational practice to a higher level – and to continue to do so. Your research project therefore represents the start of an ongoing learning process – a way of thinking and doing that will benefit you throughout your life.

Title and degree

After successfully completing the Bachelor’s/Master’s Education in Arts fast track double degree programme, you may use two titles: Bachelor of Education (BEd) and Master of Education (MEd).

The professional field

Having both a bachelor's and a master’s degree gives you access to a broad professional field. As an art and artisteducator, you will be able to work both within and outside education, at VET or university of applied sciences (HBO) level or in extramural art education – for instance, in an art centre or the educational department of a cultural institution.

Within mainstream education, you can work in primary education, special needs education, the first phase of secondary education, the senior years of preparatory middle-level vocational education (VMBO) and the second phase of secondary education/preparatory higher education (VHO). You can work as a teacher of visual arts, but also, for example, as a teacher of cultural and artistic studies, general art, art history, media design or drawing. In addition, as a qualified teacher of visual arts and design, you will be entitled to teach at VET and higher professional level. Your diploma therefore represents a broad teaching qualification.

Education in Arts outside education

With your diploma, you can also work in the field of art education, playing policymaking, coordinating and more executive roles within institutions such as museums, cultural institutions, artists’ initiatives, festivals and online platforms.
