Why choose this fast track double degree programme in Education in Arts?

Abridged part-time programme

You complete the Fine Art and Design in Education tailor-made bachelor’s course plus the Education in Arts master’s course within three years.

Interdisciplinary learning community

You become part of an interdisciplinary learning community and get to know a varied group of fellow artisteducators

Create social impact

The practice-based, socially engaged curriculum of this programme challenges you to bring your interests and areas of expertise together with social issues.

Broad teaching qualification

After graduation, you will have a broad teaching qualification for the visual arts subjects in secondary education and VET, including the Dutch Cultural and Artistic Training subjects.

Theory and practice go hand in hand

During this combined programme, theory and practice are permanently linked. With the theoretical knowledge you gain, you cement you position in practice and underpin your role as an artisteducator.

Two qualifications

After two years, you receive a Fine Art and Design in Education tailor-made qualification, and after three years an Education in Arts master's degree.

Stronger in your role as teacher, artist and researcher

During this abridged three-year programme, you follow the curriculum of the part-time bachelor’s course Fine Art and Design in Education tailor-made for a year and a half, followed by the curriculum of the part-time master’s course Education in Arts for a further year and a half. Whereas in the first half of this programme you are trained as an artisteducator who connects artistry with teaching, the second half consists primarily of conducting research into social issues in the context of recent and inspiring developments in arts-based pedagogy. You develop as an agent of change and learn to be even stronger in your role as teacher, artist and researcher.

Teaching qualification and master’s degree

This double degree programme is aimed at students already in possession of a bachelor's degree from an art course (fine art or design) at university of applied sciences level who want to go on to gain both a teaching qualification and a master’s degree in the space of 3 years. In this combined programme, the roles of teacher, artist and researcher are inextricably linked together: they reinforce and complement one another.
