The power of music therapy

Carola Werger, lecturer and head of the bachelor’s course Music Therapy, highlighted the diverse applications of music therapy in the healthcare sector, including working with clients with neurological disorders or prematurely born babies. Professor Music-Based Interventions and Therapies Artur Jaschke delved into the realm of machine learning and artificial intelligence in this therapeutic context, illustrating how AI can craft music tailored to an individual's treatment journey.

In a collaborative effort, bachelor’s student Moos te Velthuis and lecturer Gerjanne Dannenberg demonstrated the process of creating a track for a client with Parkinson's disease. By crafting music that resonates with the client's experiences and ensuring a clear rhythm, this music aids the client in moving more comfortably.

The episode is available for viewing on kijk.nl. Around the 17-minute mark, you'll find the segment focussed on music therapy at ArtEZ.
