SPOTTED: NEXT GENERATION nominated for a SDG Award

The SDG Award highlights bold, sustainable and impactful initiatives. 'Of course, we are proud of this,' says Arjen Hosper, curator of NEXT GENERATION and head of the Bachelor's Theatre in Education . "I believe that we can make a change with art. The future needs new thinkers, makers and connectors. The premise of NEXT GENERATION where nature is central is an example of how we can think differently about the future." This nomination proofs that art and artistic research is indispensable in the transition to a sustainable society.

What are the SDG's, and why this award?

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are 17 goals, formulated by the United Nations, to make the change the world for the better 2030. They are a global compass for challenges such as poverty and the climate crisis. The SDG Award will be presented on 27 September, and is part of the SDG Action Days, the Dutch event on SDGs. About NEXT GENERATION

The water is up to our heads. Coastlines and riverbeds are creeping further and further inland, while people are becoming more and more distanced from nature. How can art bring us closer to nature and how can we design cities so that water can continue to flow freely while our feet remain dry?  Find out during the very first No University manifestation NEXT GENERATION in Zwolle. Two days full of lectures, experiments and art.

The two-day NEXT GENERATION manifestation is organised by No University - Center for Advanced Studies (NU), an experimental research project that searches for a new form of higher education that contributes to a sustainable, just and resilient society. The NEXT GENERATION event is the first of many. Cooperation with the Zwolle region is key, and each event will focus on an economic, social or political issue that plays a role in Zwolle. This event is being organised in close cooperation with the City of Zwolle, Department of Culture, Climate and Adaptation and Circular Economy, Climate Campus and ArtEZ.
