With her graduation work BEKEKEN, Kim de Ruyter scored a Wildcard from Nederlands Filmfonds. With this film and the essay Verwerpelijke Blikken (reprehensible looks) Kim graduated this year from the Animation Design course. Kim: "BEKEKEN is a short film about the tension in watching and being watched and the physical tension that a glance can leave on you. It depicts the experience in a mostly 'nice & nasty' way by playing with the subcutaneous element that comes with a look that attacks your self-image."

There are plenty of ideas for new (film) projects. Kim: "I want to make more short films about similar sensitive themes that address self-image, inequality, sexism and discrimination in a carnal and that same 'nice & nasty' way. These are things that have marked my life in good and bad ways and I think it's important to keep them up for discussion."
