Buma Awards for Daan Jansen, MediaMusic alumnus and Mike Meurs, Jazz & Pop alumnus

The Buma Awards are Dutch awards presented by the Buma Culture Foundation. The Buma National and International Awards are for the composers and lyricists of the year’s most played and best-selling singles. Prizes are also awarded in the categories Multimedia, Film and Classical music. This year, there were four nominees from ArtEZ. Mike Meurs, Jazz & Pop alumnus and Daan Jansen, MediaMusic alumnus, went on to win in their respective categories.

Daan Jansen

Daan Jansen, MediaMusic alumnus, works for KH Music and previously won the award in 2017 and 2020. Together with his partners Ward Henselmans and Jeroen Kuitenbrouwer, Daan was nominated in the category Best Television Design for the sound logo of the broadcaster EO. In addition, Daan and KH Music were nominated in the category Best Original Composition in Podcasts, for De Kersentuin by De Hoorspelfabriek. The nominees went on to win the awards in both categories.

Mike Meurs

Mike Meurs, alumnus of Jazz & Pop Arnhem (specialisation Composition for Film and Theatre), was nominated in the category Best Original Composition in Short Film for his score for Margin of Terror, an animated film by Kieran McLister. He too won the Award.
