Writing without fixed rules

Where writing education often emphasizes structure and correctness, Bakkers and Hulshof take a different approach. They demonstrate that writing can be an artistic and personal practice. Through philosophical insights, literary examples, and practical assignments, they invite readers to discover their own writing voice.

For whom?

This publication ties in with the current attention to creativity and language skills. The book is valuable for teachers, students, makers, and researchers within ArtEZ and beyond. It offers new perspectives on writing as more than just a technical skill: writing as experiment and discovery.

About the authors

  • Sare Bakkers teaches creative writing at AKI ArtEZ in Enschede and at the ArtEZ Academy of Architecture in Arnhem.
  • Lot Hulshof has worked as a philosophy lecturer at AKI ArtEZ and focuses on the relationship between language and artificial intelligence.
