Oude Kraan 26, ArnhemEverything makes sound, and it is up to us to turn it into music. In Peter en de magnetron, it is through listening and playing that ordinary appliances become instruments, and everyday sounds become music.
Peter en de magnetron is a collection of instruments, an audiovisual installation, and a short music theatre performance. Visitors are encouraged to listen, recognise, interact, and take a second look at what design and music can actually be.
Jelle Zegers
Jelle Zegers is a multidisciplinary maker. During his last year at the bachelor’s programme Product Design he presented himself as a designer, but frequently confused his teachers with titles such as musician, theatermaker, and fine artist.
In his graduation year he incorporated his passion for music into his practice as a designer. He took position with the motto ‘everything is music’. And once you start seeing everything as music, suddenly everything can be an instrument. This notion formed the basis for the music theatre play Nog even in de koelkast and his graduation project Peter en de Magnetron (‘Peter and the Microwave’).
