Finals highlights #5

During the ArtEZ Finals, graduating students showcase their work to the public. This week once again offers a wide range of events: from concerts and theatre to performances and interdisciplinary projects. 

Which finals don’t you want to miss? We’ve selected the highlights of the upcoming week for you. 

Finals Jazz & Pop, Composition for Film and Theatre, and Master of Music

Programmes: Jazz & Pop, Composition for Film and Theatre, and the Master of Music
When: Monday 8 June to Friday 12 June
Location: FOCUS Film Theater Arnhem

Flautist Inari Soro opens the week on Monday evening with a personal performance in which folk music, metal, and improvisation come together in an exploration of identity, history, and connection.

On Tuesday evening, guitarist Manolis Matthaiakis takes visitors into a minimalist world of soundscapes, improvisation, and live visuals, placing the beauty of sound at the heart of the experience.

Later that evening, composer Elias Schröter presents MOREisMOREandLESSisMORE, an audiovisual performance about overstimulation, entertainment, and the influence of modern media.

On Wednesday evening, Marius Holland showcases in his master’s final how his development from jazz pianist to electronic music producer has resulted in a unique live performance. Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Max van Weerden will also give a personal concert, bringing together soul, jazz, and original compositions.

In addition, performances by Orion Tsartsalis, Thijs Buijing, Falk Stanley Reineke, and Dax Hemelrijk will be featured throughout the week.

Many events are free of charge and open to the public.

An evening full of pop music

Programme: Academy of Pop Music 
When: Thursday 11 June 
Location: ArtEZ Academy of Music Enschede

The Pop Academy is fully dedicated to graduation concerts on Thursday. Singer-songwriter Loes Koedoot presents an energetic show featuring original Dutch pop music, dance and female empowerment. With entirely self-written work, she concludes her bachelor’s degree as she once dreamed: on stage.

Later that evening, drummer Joram Dickhof takes over. His graduation concert is all about what matters most to him: playing music he is passionate about. Expect an evening full of diverse influences, joy of playing and surprises. 

FIELDS  

Programme: Classical Music 
When: Friday 12 June, 15:00 – 16:00 
Location: Perron038

What does an ecosystem sound like? In FIELDS, Joram van Duijn combines music, ecology and technology into a unique concert experience.

Six musicians transform into biologists on field research and bring their environment to life in sound, music and 3D animation using self-developed ‘Field Scanners’. With an additional lecture by biologist Marc Siepman, this final offers a surprising perspective on the relationship between nature and art. 

Finals Artisteducator in Theatre

Programme: Artisteducator in Theatre 
When: Thursday 11 June, from 19:30 
Location: ArtEZ Academy of Theatre and Dance

Graduating students of Artisteducator in Theatre present themselves to the public and professional field during an evening full of new ideas, artistic visions and exploratory theatre.

A great opportunity to get to know the newest generation of theatre makers and art educators. 

Theatre Festival Reuring

Programme: Artisteducator in Theatre & Media 
When: Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 June 
Location: Various locations in Zwolle

For two days, graduating students of Artisteducator in Theatre & Media present their work during Theatre Festival Reuring.

From intimate performances to site-specific work across the city: visitors explore the work of a new generation of makers along a walking route through Zwolle. The route starts at Schouwburg Odeon, and tickets are free.
