Gonza Zubillaga: I want to tell you a few things about my experience at ArtEZ University Music Conservatory in the Jazz/pop department at Composition for Film and Theatre online program. This is an experience, an opening self-discovery stage for me, a safe environment in which we are encouraged to find our own voice as composers. Not only are we allowed to make mistakes, but we are given permission to fail, yes! it might sound strange but it's not it has been empowering and very fruitful.

We are all discovering our own way to communicate in the world as composers and as such we are expected to try new things and go beyond what we are capable of doing, the objectives are challenging but achievable.

Teachers are experienced and understand what we are supposed to learn and how we learn. There's a very friendly environment, our group is small and we support each other like a good band of brothers and friends. Becoming fluent in all aspects of academic musical knowledge as well as the practical skills to effectively learn and understand the trade of dramaturgy in music.

Our Theory class is outstanding combining Music Theory in all its width and learned in combination with our aural skills, to be able to develop a rich imagination through our internal ear. We love our Rhythm Lab, where we are acquiring the fundamentals of Rhythm transcription, feel in performance and reading skills. History, Education (see my 10 reasons to take this course video) and Workshops with active Film Composers of the industry throughout the year hold and glue together the program accompanying our Composition main Subject that is Divided in Dramaturgy in Music, in which we write to picture and orchestration and organology classes in which we learn to write autonomous music. Overall the program is very solid, impressive and demanding. So come discover ArtEZ online programs, It will empower you to go beyond!!!
