Jeroen van den Eijnde

Jeroen van den Eijnde was trained as a product designer (ArtEZ) and design historian (Leiden University).

Since 1994 he has published articles and books on design in general and on design education in particular. In 2015 he obtained his PhD on his research Het huis van IK. Ideologie en theorie in het Nederlandse vormgevingsonderwijs [The House of I. Ideology and theory in Dutch Design Education].

Van den Eijnde has worked for various professorships at ArtEZ. For the Art, Culture & Economics professorship, he initiated and led the two-year RAAK SME project Open Minds Open Sources, which aimed to connect product designers to the regional manufacturing industry. Together with José Teunissen, professor of Fashion, he was at the basis of ArtEZ Future Makers, which was developed as an expertise centre for fashion within the framework of the top sector Creative Industry.

 

In addition to being a researcher, Van den Eijnde is a (guest) lecturer in the ArtEZ Product Design and Interior Architecture course, Wageningen University & Research Centre, Radboud University Nijmegen and the Design + Change course at Linnaeus University in Sweden.

As an advisor he has worked for the Fonds voor Beeldende Kunst, Vormgeving en Bouwkunst (now the Stimuleringsfonds Creatieve Industrie), Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds Gelderland and the Raad voor Cultuur, among others. He is co-founder and former board member of Ontwerp Platform Arnhem. Van den Eijnde is currently a member of the CLICKNL programme council, the knowledge and innovation network of the top sector Creative Industry, a core member of Network Applied Design Research, a member of the programme council of Network Archives Design and Digital Culture of Het Nieuwe Instituut, and a regional matchmaker for the new SIA programme GO Creative Industry.
