Students at ArtEZ once again rate their programmes highly in the National Student Survey 2026 (NSE). Scores increased across almost all key themes, with ArtEZ performing above the national average for universities of applied sciences. Students especially value the areas of lecturers, student support and assessment.
Each year, the NSE provides valuable insight into how students experience their programme and ArtEZ as an educational institution. This year, ArtEZ students especially value their lecturers for their commitment, expertise and knowledge of professional practice. Students also rate academic support very positively. In addition, they score the quality of skills assessment clearly above the national average.
The NSE also shows positive developments in the areas of engagement and connection. ArtEZ students feel more at home in their programme than students nationally. They value the atmosphere, the involvement of lecturers and the challenging learning environment. Students also experience more freedom to shape their own learning path. At the same time, perceived study pressure remains generally stable.
Scores for equal treatment and wellbeing have also increased within the optional survey themes. ArtEZ students feel that more consideration is given to personal circumstances. International students rate the support services and English-language offer more positively than last year.
The appreciation for developing professional skills is around the national average. Contact with professional practice continues to lag behind. Strengthening the connection with professional practice therefore remains an important focus point for ArtEZ.
“These excellent results show that our students generally feel recognised and well supported at ArtEZ. The positive appreciation for our lecturers, guidance and learning environment is especially encouraging. Every day, we work hard to improve the quality of our education, and it is rewarding to hear this feedback from our students. At the same time, continued attention is needed for the connection with professional practice. I look forward to continuing this conversation with staff, student representatives and colleagues.”
The National Student Survey (NSE) is a large-scale annual survey in which students share their views on their university of applied sciences or research university programme and institution. In addition to overall programme satisfaction, the survey measures how students experience different aspects of education, such as study pressure, lecturers and atmosphere.
This year, 248,000 students shared their experiences. The results help programmes further improve the quality of education.
