After graduation

After this course, you will enter the professional field with a great deal of experience and confidence. You will have extensive technical and compositional knowledge, which can be applied to many different fields.  

Aside from being a composer for films and theatre, you can also become a composer for other media. Furthermore, you will have the technical knowledge of a studio engineer and sound designer.

The curriculum is original and diverse - meaning that graduates can stand out from the competition, being qualified and competent in a number of different fields.

Alumni

Anne Kathrin Dern 

Anne Kathrin Dern graduated in 2012 from the online version of this course. After her graduation, she continued her studies in Los Angeles at the UCLA Film Scoring Programme. In LA, she is now CEO of e-Quality Music Productions LLC. She is best known for her scores on Fearless (Netflix, 2020) and The Claus Family (Netflix, 2020). 

 

Olaf Krause

Olaf Krause also graduated from the online version of the programme. He received his Bachelor's degree in 2019 and his Master's degree in 2021 from ArtEZ. Currently, he is an award-winning composer and stays involved at ArtEZ as a teacher in the programme. You can listen to Olaf's compositions on Soundcloud. 

Mike Meurs

Mike Meurs completed the on-campus variant of the bachelor's course in Composition for Film and Theatre in 2020. During his time at ArtEZ, he did an internship with film and trailer composer Joep Sporck in Los Angeles. As winner of the Buma Music in Media Award in 2021 and nominee for the Best Original Score award at both the Feel the Reel International Film Festival and International Sound and Film Music Festival in 2020, Mike (1998) is well on his way making his name on the international stage.

Degree and diploma

After successfully completing the Composition for Film and Theatre course, you will be able to use the degree title Bachelor of Music (BMus). This study can be found in the Central Register of Higher Education Study Programmes (CROHO) under code 34739. The formal name of the course is Bachelor of Music, which is the name that will appear on your diploma and the name is known under in the CROHO.
