A professional keyboard player masters the basics before creating a great sound with peripheral equipment. In this major, we therefore ensure that you master the basics of the piano. You then learn how to give the best live performance.

Technique on the acoustic piano with a broad harmonic training are indispensable if you wish to become a professional keyboard player. You may then explore different styles. Using the wealth of equipment available at the Academy of Music, such as sound modules, samples, synthesizers and sequencers.

At the end of the course, you a broadly trained and all-round keyboard player who can work in various areas on stage and in the studio.

Admission requirements

We expect a considerable level at the start of your study to ensure that you can complete your study in four years at the desired level. We test your level and development potential during the admission. The following is expected of you:

  • Playing at least two stylistically different pieces which represent what you can do.
  • Rhythm test: keeping to a rhythm when playing along with a groove, where the groove is left out for an increasingly long period.
  • Playing / reproducing: a fragment is played that you need to sing / play as quickly as possible by ear.
  • Read notes.
  • Read chord symbols (including instructions about rhythm and form), both as an accompanist and soloist.
