Drums

Musical skills are an important part of the major lessons. The latest techniques are also part of the lessons. You learn to work with loops and to put them together using hard disk recording and midi sequencing. The lessons therefore combine drum technique, basic knowledge of the entire drumkit, coordination, style exploration, working with sequencers and click tracks, side-reading, instrument-focused reading and development in a band.

This helps you fully develop your ambition and talent. You discover whether there is a hidden band leader, arranger or studio engineer inside you. This journey of exploration includes lessons in aspects like PA (sound system), studio techniques and arranging.

Admission requirements

We expect a considerable level at the start of your study to ensure that you can complete your study in four years at the desired level. We test your level and development potential during the admission. The following is expected of you:

• Playing at least two stylistically different pieces which represent what you can do.
• Rhythm test: keeping to a rhythm when playing along with a sequencer, where the groove is left out for an increasingly long period.
• Coordination: apply rudiments in grooves.
• Read notes (including instructions about rhythm and form), both as an accompanist and soloist.
