Finals Product Design: process emotions through objects
- Design
Frouke Engel graduated from the higher professional education course in Product Design. In a video she explains the goal of her graduation project. “I think there should be more possibilities to process your emotions in a physical way. And not only through speech. When you’re stuck, you want to hold on to something that supports your emotions. I haven’t seen that kind of possibilities a lot around me. I think it could have added value.”

Based on her own research, Frouke developed objects with which she hopes to help people to process their emotions in a physical way. “I think it’s so beautiful to see. And for me, it’s every time exciting to see. Because every time something new happens. I see the beauty of emotions. Even when it’s sometimes intense emotions, I enjoy seeing the emotional discharge. I find it beautiful that such an object can achieve something like this.” Frouke says that her work is done when people tell her that they’ve experienced something through the objects.
And when she’s asked whether she’ll work in healthcare, her answer is: “No, I’m not going to work in healthcare. I see myself as a creative person. I like to connect with people. So, I love to talk to specialists and explore the possibilities. And I think that can lead to a lot more than if I would focus entirely on working in healthcare.”
