Henry Purcell's 'Dido and Aeneas' reimagined: a performance by ArtEZ Classical & Composition for Film and Theatre students

The String Ensemble and the Classical Vocal Department of the ArtEZ Conservatory in Zwolle, together with students from the Composition for Film and Theatre program at the ArtEZ Conservatory in Arnhem, present a fresh perspective on Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell — a true Baroque classic and the very first English opera.
Alongside Purcell’s masterpiece, you will hear new compositions by five students from Arnhem, inspired by his music and the tragic story of Queen Dido, who falls in love with the Trojan hero Aeneas and faces great despair when he leaves her.
