How does a painting sound? What does the 17th century smell like? And how can you experience art without seeing it? | Expo at the Fundatie Zwolle

Museum de Fundatie Blijmarkt 20 Zwolle
How does a painting sound? What does the 17th century smell like? And how can you experience art without seeing it? | Expo at the Fundatie Zwolle

During The Invisible Museum, Nina Witsenburg, a Master Classical Music student at ArtEZ invites you on a sensory journey where music, scent, and storytelling intertwine. The performance is part of the exhibition At Home with Ter Borch at Museum de Fundatie and offers a new, inclusive way of engaging with art, especially for people with visual impairments.

You’ll hear music by Monteverdi, Rameau, and Bach alongside later compositions that reveal the lasting impact of 17th-century art. The performers share personal insights into the artworks and the emotions they evoke, enriched with scent-based elements that bring history to life in a deeply physical way.

This concert is a follow up of Curatorial Practices in Music at the ArtEZ Academy in Zwolle, an interdisciplinary programme in which students explore how music can create meaningful connections between art, people, and society. The collaboration with Museum de Fundatie continues a line of successful projects bridging artistic disciplines, audiences, and perspectives.

Before and after the concert, visitors are welcome to explore the exhibition. The limited audience size ensures a calm and focused experience for everyone.
