ArtEZ Music Theatre - Karavaan festival
Since 2019, a group of predominantly third-year students from ArtEZ Music Theatre has created an annual site-specific performance for the Noord-Holland site-specific theatre festival Karavaan. The students are guided by renowned theatre makers.
Karavaan 2025 will take place from May 29 to June 9.
Karavaan Festival is an annual performing arts festival in the northern region of Noord-Holland. It features site-specific theatre by nationally renowned and emerging theatre makers at culturally and historically significant locations in the Alkmaar area. Over ten days, Karavaan offers site-specific performances in unique locations, a vibrant festival hub, theatrical installations, public space performances, live music, food and drinks, talkabouts, and more.
Yes in My Backyard is the name of the delightful festival hub, a collaboration between Karavaan and Podium Victorie! For two long weekends, Alkmaar’s Victoriepark becomes the place to be. At the Karavaan festival hub, you can enjoy intimate tent theatre, live concerts, street theatre, waterfront terraces with the finest drinks, food trucks, and much more!
Karavaan Festival offers site-specific theatre, live music, public space performances, installations, exhibitions, and conversations, catering to a broad audience. The festival takes you across the entire region—to meadows, cultural heritage sites, the polder, the beach and dunes, the city center, and unique businesses. Here, you’ll experience site-specific theatre by both acclaimed and young theatre makers. The festival presents a unique blend of site-specific performances, art installations, and live shows, often inspired by the surroundings and contemporary societal themes.
