This year we celebrate a special milestone: the 50th anniversary of the ArtEZ University of the Arts in Zwolle. Under the theme “Innovators of Tradition,” we not only look back at our rich history, but above all look forward to the future of music and education.

During the anniversary we will show in which we have been innovative over the past five decades, by sharing stories, music and inspiring narratives. Students and professionals provide insight into the future of the music profession. They tell how they connect music and people in the city and beyond, and we debate our future role together. Can we outline a vision for the next 50 years?

We also present how the conservatory continues to raise its profile artistically and socially, and how this development is intertwined with today's political realities. This anniversary is not only a retrospective, but above all an invitation to discover together what course we will take in the future, and what role curatorship plays in this.
