New bachelor’s course: Try Out | starting september 2025
- Design
Starting in September 2025, ArtEZ Academy of Art & Design Zwolle will launch the new bachelor's course Try Out. This interdisciplinary course offers students the opportunity to apply their creative talents to societal challenges. The focus is not only on mastering a medium or artistic skills but also on the creative process and engagement, with a strong emphasis on inclusion, diversity, and social relevance.

Addressing current societal challenges
Try Out emphasizes the creative and artistic process. Students are challenged to collaborate across disciplines, take initiative, plan, and work independently. They may also be asked to organize or curate. The outcomes of the course do not always need to result in artworks or designs but can reflect other forms of social engagement. Throughout the course, students will work on real and current challenges from society. It is a team-oriented and dynamic course where students learn and work together in an inspiring environment.
For creative and conceptual thinkers
Try Out prepares students to become creative professionals who address societal issues through their creative abilities. A specially designed curriculum is in place for students who feel at home in the art academy of the future. Two existing ArtEZ minors have also been integrated into the curriculum: the Liberal Arts Minor and the Creating Creativity Minor.
No admission, but an introductory meeting
Uniquely within ArtEZ, Try Out does not have an admission requirement. Interested applicants can submit a motivation letter and attend an introductory meeting with the course. Based on this meeting, they will receive advice on whether the course is a good fit for them, though this advice is non-binding. No selection takes place as a result of these conversations.
