The ArtEZ Academy of Music in Zwolle is pleased to announce Yuri Honing as head of Jazz & Pop as of September 2023.
Three-time Dutch Edison winner
Saxophonist Yuri Honing is one of Holland's most prolific musicians. A three-time Dutch Edison winner and Boy Edgar Award winner, he has spent the past three decades touring worldwide with his own groups and working with Pat Metheny, Paul Bley, Craig Taborn, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Charlie Haden and many others. With more than 15 million streams on Spotify, and an original and recognizable sound, Yuri Honing is one of those musicians who continue to shape the Dutch cultural landscape. Whether with music, or with his contemporary art and sculptures.
Changing field of work
Yuri: "It is a great privilege after 35 years of (inter)national experience to share my knowledge and network in a changing field with the youngest generation of students at the ArtEZ Conservatory in Zwolle. I am therefore greatly looking forward to leading and facilitating the Jazz & Pop department in that transition."
