MediaMusic and Pop Academy students among big names at Symphonic Broadway

Students Marius Hogedorn (MediaMusic) and Sanna van Koesveld (Academy of Pop Music) can be heard at the Oude Markt in Enschede on Friday, July 7, 2023. And they are in good company. During Symphonic Broadway, soloists Francis van Broekhuizen, Jamai Loman, Leona Philippo and Tessa Sunniva van Tol will perform.
Phion, het Wilmink Theater and Stichting Enschede Promotie, in cooperation with the ArtEZ Academy of Music in Enschede, annually organize a grand open-air concert on the Oude Markt in Enschede entitled Symphonic Broadway. Major soloists sing famous songs from the Broadway musical repertoire, accompanied by Phion in symphonic instrumentation. The concert will be presented by Frits Sissing.
Pitch for conservatory students
The ArtEZ Conservatory of Music wrote a contest inviting students to work to contribute to the event in various ways. There was a pitch for a composition assignment and an audition for a vocal guest performance.
Marius Hogedorn
The jury for the composition assignment consisted of Joris Nassenstein (Phion) and Daniel Janssen (Wilmink Theater Enschede). They chose the composition of student Marius Hagedoorn, who studies within the MediaMusic course on the profile Composer for Film, Games & Media. The Jury about Marius' composition: "Great piece, stands out with compositional quality well above the other entries, which by the way are almost all of a high level. Great how they all got going with the sound of broadway."
Sanna van Koesveld
Sanna van Koesveld won the audition for the vocal guest performance. Sanna is a third-year student at the Academy of Pop Music. The jury for this was formed by Joris Nassenstein (Phion), Daniel Janssen and Bernie Meems (Wilmink Theater Enschede).
