Zeelandic, homosexual and drag: a combination that has not always been easy for Erwin Joziasse. Now, it's where he gets his inspiration from. For his graduation at the bachelor course Graphic Design in Arnhem, he made drag dresses according to Zeeland's traditional costumes, to start the conversation about LGBTIQ+. RTLNieuws interviewed Erwin about his work.

Erwin grew up in Koudekerke, a protestant village that is part of the bible belt. With his project, he wants to stand up for the entire LGBTIQ+ community in Zeeland.

“If you wear clothes that don't fit the norm, you stand out. People stare at you. I often dressed more modestly than I actually wanted.”

Behind the scenes

In his Instagram takeover, Erwin took us behind the scenes just moments before his graduation. You can see the takeover in the highlights of ArtEZ' Instagram, 'finals takeovers 2022'.
