SPOTTED: prizes for ArtEZ students at the Rosa Spier Harp Competition

During the Rosa Spier Harp Competition of the Dutch Harp Association (Nederlandse Harp Vereniging), two ArtEZ students won prizes. Megan van Uffelen (student Young Talent Class) has won a 1st prize and the prize for best performance of the obligatory work in category 2 (15 to 17 years) Pedal Harp. Shamáti Willemse (first-year student Bachelor of Classical Music) won an incentive prize and the prize for best performance of the obligatory work in category 3 (18 to 21 years) Pedal Harp.

The Harp Vereniging Nederland organizes the Rosa Spier Harp Competition every two years. Participants in the competition are 21 years of age or younger. The sixth Rosa Spier Harp Competition 2022 was on May 28 and 29, 2022.

Megan van Uffelen

In September 2019, Megan was accepted into the Young Talent Class at the ArtEZ Academy of Music in Zwolle. As of 2019, Megan has participated in a number of national and international competitions and won several awards here as well. Megan is one of five selected harpists who have been invited to attend an International Celebrity Masterclass of the World Harp Congress which will take place in Cardiff in July 2022.

Shamáti Willemse

Shamáti is 17 years old and a first year Classical Music student at the ArtEZ Academy of Music in Zwolle. In 2020 she also participated in the Rosa Spier Harp Competition and she plays regularly at the Young Talent Competition. She likes to play in ensembles and also enjoys solo performances at atmospheric locations, but giving harp lessons is her greatest passion.
