SPOTTED | After the publication of her first novel, Simone Atangana Bekono (2016 graduate of Creative Writing) instantly became a celebrated writer. De Gelderlander spoke to Simone about her success.
You can't just learn to write, you need talent. Not everyone who goes to a writing course delivers a book within four years. It doesn't work that way. The course was especially important to me because I came into an environment of like-minded people, fellow students who were also driven and teachers who knew more than I did and against whom I could test my work.
