The Gieskes-Strijbis Performing Arts Prize is awarded annually to two makers who contribute to the quality and diversity of the performing arts in the Netherlands. Makers of theatre, musical theatre, music, composition and dance are eligible for the Gieskes-Strijbis Performing Arts Prize. Candidates are expected to have a clear vision on reaching new audiences, handling new subject matter and developing new repertoire. The winners get to spend the €60,000 prize money on their artistic development.

Verdict of the Advisory Committee

The Advisory Committee of the Gieskes-Strijbis Prize had this to say about MAISON the FAUX:
“Tessa de Boer and Joris Suk convince through their huge enthusiasm and drive to pursue a far more theatrical presentation of their work outside established paths in the fashion business. Away from the fast production processes in the industry, they are developing a unique performance practice, in which they don’t shy away from adventure. The committee sees their work as an ode to the imagination and a role model for inclusivity and emancipation, and hopes that venues in the Netherlands and beyond will provide a showcase for MAISON the FAUX.”
