You pay tuition fees for each academic year. There are two types: statutory tuition fees and institutional tuition fees. Which fees you pay depends on your situation. Most students pay statutory tuition fees. Higher institutional fees may apply, for example if you take a second bachelor’s programme.
The tuition fees calculator is the easiest way to see how much you need to pay. Below you will find the calculator for the academic year 2026-2027.
If you are starting the part-time Graphic Design programme in Zwolle on 1 February 2026, your tuition fees will be calculated differently. See Financial Matters | Four-year Part-time Graphic Design Programme for more information.
To find out how to pay your tuition fees, go to Paying tuition fees.
Most students pay statutory tuition fees. This is a lower rate because the government subsidises your enrolment. The statutory tuition fees for all programmes in the 2026–2027 academic year is €2,694. The conditions you must meet to qualify are set out below.
Important to know: If you cease to meet the conditions for the statutory tuition fees during the academic year, you may still be charged the institutional tuition fees.
You do not qualify if you already obtained a comparable in Dutch publicly funded higher education after 31 July 1991.
This means:
Exception: If are taking a second degree in education or healthcare, you will still pay statutory tuition fees, as long as your first degree was not in education or healthcare.
For more information, see DUO -Tuition fees.
You pay institutional tuition fees if you do not meet the conditions for statutory tuition fees. This rate is higher because ArtEZ does not receive a government subsidy for your enrolment.
The Executive Board sets the amount of the institutional tuition fees each academic year, with approval from the Participation Council. The rate may vary depending on the programme or student category.
Have you started your studies at ArtEZ in the 2025-2026 academic year, or are you planning to start in the 2026-2027 academic year? Then the institutional tuition fee for all bachelor's and associate degree programmes is €11,870. For all master's programmes, the institutional tuition fee is €13,030. Have you previously started your education and are re-enrolling in your programme after a break in your studies? Then these amounts also apply to you. This also applies if you have switched programmes.
Did you start your programme in the 2024-2025 academic year or earlier and have remained continuously enrolled in the same programme? And are you planning to re-enrol in this programme for the 2026-2027 academic year? Then the institutional tuition fee for all bachelor's and associate degree programmes is €11,385, and for all master's programmes, it is €12,450.
If you need a residence permit as a non-EU student, you have to transfer what we call a financial guarantee before 31 May.
Important to know: If you cease to meet the conditions for the statutory tuition fees during the academic year, you may still be charged the institutional tuition fees.
For more information, see DUO -Tuition fees.
If you start a second degree at the same level while you are still doing your first degree, you will also pay the statutory tuition fee for your second degree.
If you finish your first degree in the meantime, you will continue to pay the statutory tuition fee for your second degree, as long as you study without a break.
