You can pay your tuition fees in a single payment or in instalments through Studielink. If you cannot or prefer not to pay by direct debit, you can transfer the tuition fees to ArtEZ yourself.
If you are taking a second programme at another institution alongside your programme at ArtEZ, you may not have to pay tuition fees at the other institution. In that case, you may be eligible for an exemption.
This page explains how to request and submit proof of paid tuition fees (BBC). The exemption only applies to statutory tuition fees. Want to learn more about the types of tuition fees or calculate your tuition fee? Visit the Tuition fees page.
More information about payment methods and how to change your payment details is available below. For further guidance, see the Studielink step-by-step plans.
Digital authorisation (direct debit)
A digital authorisation (direct debit) gives ArtEZ permission to withdraw the tuition fees from your bank account, either in a single payment or in ten instalments. In Studielink, you can specify from mid-May that you want to pay by direct debit.
Dates for debiting tuition fees
If you choose to pay in a single payment, we will withdraw the full amount around 24 September.
If you choose to pay in instalments, the amounts will be withdrawn around the following dates:
- 24 September
- 24 October
- 24 November
- 24 December
- 24 January
- 24 February
- 24 March
- 24 April
- 24 May
- 24 June
Important
- A direct debit is only possible if your bank is located in the Netherlands or in another European country within the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA).
- If you pay through a Dutch bank account, someone else can pay on your behalf using direct debit. Note: this is only possible if that person has DigiD login details.
- We charge an administration fee of €24 for payment in ten instalments.
- Make sure you receive online confirmation of the direct debit well before your programme starts.
More information
For more deails, see the Studielink step-by-step plans and select the plan for Digital (direct debit) authorisation.
If you cannot or prefer not to pay by direct debit, you can also transfer the tuition fees yourself. In that case, you must transfer the full amount in one payment.
Your payment of tuition fees payment must be deposited into ArtEZ’s bank account no later than 31 August. Use the tuition fees calculator to see how much you need to pay.
Use the following bank details for your payment:
Non-EU students with a residence permit
If you are a first-year student from outside the European Union with a residence permit, you must pay a financial guarantee that already covers your tuition fees.
For more information, see Financial guarantee for non-EU students.
By law, you only need to pay the statutory tuition fees at one educational institution.
If you are also taking a programme at another institution, request proof of paid tuition fees from the institution where you already paid. When you submit this, you may be exempt from paying tuition fees at the second institution. This exemption only applies to statutory tuition fees.
How proof of paid tuition fees works
In Studielink - via Studielink step-by-step plans - state the option to pay using proof of paid tuition fees.
- If your institution supports this method, you can request and submit the proof digitally through Studielink.
- If online submission is not possible, you can request or submit the proof through Students Affairs.
You only need to enter your payment details once in Studielink. This information stays valid as long as you are enrolled at the same institution.
You will be notified by email as soon as the tuition fees for the new academic year are announced. At that point, you will be asked to check your existing payment details and make any necessary changes.
Changing payment details at other times
You can change your payment details at any time during the year. For more information, see ‘Changing payment details’ in the Studielink step-by-step plan.
Changes take effect from the next payment date, which may not be until the new academic year. ArtEZ determines when the change is made.
Note: you can change the single direct debit payment method until 12 September. This is because of the administrative processing time required to collect the payments.
The rules for paying tuition fees and dealing with payment arrears are set out in the Student Charter. See Appendix I: Regulation Specifications, Chapter 1 Registration, deregistration and tuition fees for full details.
