The week of student Moigimy
- Fine Art
- Design
- Education in Art
In #deweekvan, students show you what a week of a Fine Art and Design in Education student can look like. How are the days filled? Which subjects do you follow? And what do you do? In this edition, student Moigimy Ajeki takes you through her week. ‘I love being in front of the class and so far, each class is fun in its own way.’

Monday and Tuesday
Monday and Tuesday are my internship days. I’m doing an internship at Lyceum Elst together with my classmate Nienke and we’re having a great time there! I’m responsible for 4 classes, from 2 and 3 MAVO (junior secondary education) to VWO (pre-university education). I love being in front of the class and so far, each class is fun in its own way. Because of corona safety, we now have half classes that are taught every other week. This is great for practising teaching skills because you can pay more attention to each individual student. This is also great for the students, they can concentrate better in smaller groups.
Some of these classes are now working on a visual assignment that we’ve devised for them. They’re creating a dream world that hides in the real world. It’s incredibly nice to see how they interpret our assignment.
Wednesday
Wednesday we have online class, philosophy. We’re working on the theme of identity right now, and it’s very interesting. Today, everyone had to pitch the topic they are going to use for the essay we have to hand in in a few weeks.
On Wednesday evening, I have a weekly online meeting with Hungry, Angry, Late and Tired, and I’m one of the coordinators. This is a student initiative within the three ArtEZ schools. We focus on intersectional inclusion and building communities within the school. It’s hard work, but fortunately also a lot of fun!
Thursday
On Thursday, I work on my specialisation programme: Art, Science and Technology. We’re now conducting our own investigation based on our personal fascination. I’ve decided to learn more about Blender. I want to make animations for this about how people experience different emotions. At first, it was quite frustrating to learn this because it was way too slow for me, but now I’m finally starting to make progress!
Friday
Friday is online feedback day. In the morning we have Field, where we work in groups of two to delve into one of the CKV dimensions and then make an educational product for it. My group will start with “Entertainment and Engagement”.
In the afternoon, I have my elective portrait, in which I again have an online appointment with my feedback group and the teacher. For this subject, we focus on the relationship between the maker and the person portrayed. I intend to make a booklet about the differences and similarities I have with the women in my family.
