Classical Music student Joram van Duijn wins Buma New Music Incentive 2025

Composer and ArtEZ student Joram van Duijn (bachelor’s programme Classical Music, major in Composition) has won the Buma New Music Incentive 2025 at the New Music Conference at the Verkadefabriek in ’s-Hertogenbosch on 13 November. During the New Composers Pitch, he convinced the professional jury with an original and compelling presentation of his work.

The Buma New Music Incentive is a €250 encouragement award for emerging composing talent. Eight young composers, nominated by lecturers from all Dutch conservatories, pitched themselves and their music to an audience and jury in a short and dynamic programme. The composer who makes the strongest impression wins the incentive – and this year, that was Joram. The jury praised his “inventor’s mentality”.

Two ArtEZ composers in the final

ArtEZ was represented twice in this year’s selection for the New Composers Pitch: besides Joram, Jonas Winkelmann also took the stage. Jonas studies MediaMusic at the ArtEZ Academy of Music in Enschede.
