ArtEZ Academy of Music in Enschede celebrates double anniversary

This milestone will be marked throughout the year with an extensive and inspiring programme of activities for students, alumni, professionals and partners.

For four decades, the bachelor’s programme Music Therapy has trained therapists who use music as a powerful tool for change, development and recovery. Ten years ago, the master Music Therapy was added, further strengthening ArtEZ’s position as a leading educational institution in the field.

The anniversary year focuses on meeting, reflection and looking ahead. The programme includes:

• an international Educators Gathering for lecturers and education professionals from the Netherlands and abroad.
• a large anniversary celebration for students, alumni and partners.
• inspiring masterclasses by leading professionals in the field.
• a series of webinars and podcasts on current themes within music therapy.
• various other activities that bring together the past, present and future of the profession.

With these activities, ArtEZ not only reflects on 40 years of history, but also looks ahead to the continued development of music therapy in healthcare, education and the social domain.

Since its foundation, the programme has educated hundreds of professionals who now work in areas such as mental healthcare, disability care, elderly care, forensic care and education. The combination of artistic quality, professional expertise and research has long formed the core of the programme.

Over the past ten years, the Master Music Therapy has built a strong international community and contributes to innovation, research and professional development within the field.
